| < PREV | This is just downright odd. Also 5000 years old, this tomb was carved from a solid block of rock. Without metal tools. Incredible. And you can get inside it, just. It was a tomb for two people, but they were either children or very small humans. Probably only four feet tall. It sits in a beautiful location on the island of Hoy. The effort required to carve this tomb from a solid piece of rock with primative tools indicates that its inhabitants were of some importance. Unfortunately the tomb was robbed some time in the 18th century and its contents are long lost. | NEXT > | ||||||||
