| < PREV | Taken from B9052 near Hurtiso. The island centre right is Lamb Holm which was home to the Italian POWs who built the barriers. Churchill Barrier Two lies just out of sight behind Lamb Holm. The four Churchill Barriers were built to block the entrance to Scapa Flow during WWII. This was a response to the sinking of the Royal Oak by a U-boat by a U-boat that slipped between the block ships. | NEXT > | ||||||||
