I caught a bus from Queenstown to Dunedin, and it had a wee stop in this place called Roxburgh. For those who have never caught a bus in New Zealand, I would suggest that you try it. New Zealand Bus Drivers are a special breed. I think they were introduced to the Islands by European settlers, but are certainly not related to the unfriendly and unhelpful European Bus Driver species. They are now a seemingly bottomless pit of information about the local landscape and history, not to mention dozens of yarns (that may even be true) about how their fathers or grandfathers built everything in New Zealand. This mean that a four hour bus journey involves an almost continuous narration which makes the time pass in a very pleasant way. Being Kiwis, of course they are blessed with AQI (Antipodean Questioning Intonation) which means that all their sentences go up in tone at the end, meaning that you never know if they have finished or not. They usually haven't :)
